What are Dental Bridges?

A dental bridge is a type of restoration that replaces one or more missing teeth. Bridge work is customized to your smile and will look completely natural. Bridges can last for decades with proper care. They are a more permanent solution when compared to a partial denture.

Why are Dental Bridges needed?

Dental bridges are often needed when you’re completely missing one or more of your teeth. The bridge will sit on top of the two surrounding teeth and have one or more false teeth in the middle of the restoration. These false teeth don’t just help to create a fuller and brighter-looking smile, but they can help in restoring overall oral functioning to the mouth. Bridge work is incredibly common and can be easily done in our office.

What makes you a good candidate for Dental Bridges?

Bridges are ideal for patients who may not necessarily be good candidates for dental implants. They are essential for those who want to avoid wearing a partial denture to replacing missing teeth. Because bridges are customized to each patient, you can rest assured that it will be comfortable and realistic-looking. You will come in for a consultation appointment and exam so that we can determine if bridge work is right for you.

How Are Dental Bridges Made?

First, we will administer local anesthetic to make the appointment comfortable while you’re in our office. Dr. Bhandaru will prepare the teeth adjacent to the missing tooth to receive the bridge. Impressions are taken of the area to make both a temporary and permanent bridge. You’ll go home the very same day with the temporary bridge and will need to come in for a second appointment for the permanent to be placed. Your second appointment is much shorter and simply involves removing the temporary bridge and placing the permanent. The the permanent bridge is then cemented so that you can enjoy years of a beautiful, full smile.
